This is another one of Bryan Alexander’s rich substacked posts on AI and higher education: notes from early 2025 including what he is scanning and seeing in this area. 

As a metaphor, maybe it’s not horrible, the scanner has rings like a camera lens, and lends itself to mystery. And it’s a surprsie to see text in the background actually spelled correctly. The tones are typical GenAI blue like screen glow, and overall the image is easily seen at a glance similar to the usual slop from DALL-E.

The caption reads

DALL-E offers a scanner, which also reminds me of a blended.

Methinks the last word is “blender”.

I love ya Bryan but the imagery I found boring.
