The metaphor would be that this robot sits at a computer and simulates interacting in a way formerly limited to humans.

Microsoft has announced a new AI-powered feature called “Computer Use” for its Copilot Studio platform that allows agents to directly interact with websites and desktop applications using simulated mouse clicks, menu selections, and text inputs.

According to Charles Lamanna, corporate vice president of business and industry for Microsoft Copilot, the feature marks a major leap forward in Microsoft’s vision for intelligent automation by allowing Copilot Studio agents to treat graphical user interfaces similarly to how a human user would.

It’s not clear what “directly interacting with websites” by simulated mouse clicks and menu selections means?? Credit/Blame Microsoft for naming a produce the generic “Computer Use” just to make for more comfusion.

AT least l;ittle boy robot has 4 fingers and a thumb per robot hand, although their position is more as “poised to simulate typing”, plus its gaze is way off from looking at the weirdly curved display scene. Also telling is the background full of more computers and chairs but no robot butts in chairs.

which is used to represent this “article” when shared in social media or on the index of the site.

And of course it is telling that you get a robot as the image of AI because the filename is “20250418robot.jpg” and I bet when generated, robot was part of the prompt. Note as well the use of neoteny for child like features (large head, round eyes) to appeal to humans.

People use and get the sadly metaphorical robots because sadly they ask for them.
